St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church May 20th, 2007The St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, located at 14260 Old Cutler Road in Palmetto Bay, Florida continues its 2007 Community Concert Series this Sunday, May 20th, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. with the nationally acclaimed Billington and Gonzalez Classical Flute and Guitar Duo. This performance will include works by Ernst Gottlieb Baron, Sonate, Colin Brumby, Gardens of the Villa Taranto, Eduardo Martin, Suite Habana and Three Traditional Cuban Songs. This concert is free to the general public. Canadian-born flutist Robert David Billington received his DMA in flute performance from the University of Miami. He is the principal and solo flutist with the Miami Bach Society Orchestra. Guitarist Rene Gonzalez received his DMA in guitar performance from the University of Miami, where he is the Director of the classical guitar program. He teaches guitar master classes and performs recitals throughout the United States. He has released the CD “Hummingbird” on the EFM label. The Duo has performed at numerous South Florida venues including Gusman Hall at the University of Miami, the Biltmore Hotel, and the Cuban Museum of Art and Culture. Their repertoire ranges from transcriptions of Elizabethan music for recorder and flute to original compositions of twentieth-century music for flute and guitar.
