From Apr 27th through May 6th, 2007The 9th Annual Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (MGLFF) returns to Miami this year featuring screenings throughout Miami-Dade and Broward Counties at the Regal Cinemas South Beach, Gusman Center for the Performing Arts, Colony Theatre and the Gateway Cinemas in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The ten-day festival will start on Friday, April 27th with the Opening Night Gala presentation at the Gusman Center for Performing Arts in Downtown Miami. This year’s festival will pay tribute to award winning Israeli director Eytan Fox who has gained a cult following for his films Walk on Water and Yossi and Jagger. The MGLFF 2007 Career Achievement Award Tribute sponsored by HBO will take place prior to the premiere screening of the director’s newest film The Bubble that will screen on Saturday, May 5th, 9:30pm at the Colony Theatre. Director Eytan Fox and Producer Gal Uchovsky will attend the screening to accept the Award Also announced is the North American premiere, Gala Centerpiece screening of The Picture of Dorian Gray from director Duncan Roy. The gala takes place on Wednesday, May 2nd at the Colony Theater followed by one of the grandest parties in MGLFF history as the festival takes over two blocks of historic Espanola Way with a spectacle of video installations and live performance that will have everyone talking. The Gala Closing night film will be The Chinese Botanists Daughter, a sumptuous epic love story directed by Sijie Dai. The gala takes place Sunday, May 6th at the Gusman Center for Performing Arts.
