David Kwiat says about his poetry:
“As an actor, teacher and poet, I love both the spoken and written word. As a performer, I am keenly aware of my audience and I think that informs my poetry a lot. As an actor the last thing I would ever want to do is bore an audience. Poetry is no different. I want to convey a concise message and make sure there is a palpable impact. As a writer, I want the reader to journey through my life experience as a mirror of their own personal history.
As I tell my students, we (humanity) have so much more in common than we do differences. With that assumption, it is easy for me to be honest about my fears and joys and perceptions because I pretty much assume everyone else holds those same feelings within. The pleasure I receive from writing is sharing with a larger audience the simple truths of our lives. I enjoy taking the ordinary and finding what can possibly make it extraordinary.”
