From Oct 6th through Nov 6th, 2006Ardex Gallery is opening a solo exhibition titled Out of Balance, which features a ten-year retrospective of works by Cuban artist Octavio Guinart. From the thematic point of view, Out of Balance reassembles the political and economic problems of an exiled individual. Many of Guinart’s works are full of symbols and nostalgia. They also mystify the blue tropical skies with palms in the horizon, amidst a suffocating and oppressing socio-political habitat. Guinart is an artist able to make his canvases ask questions about stories, always beyond the image in them, like photographic flashes of an anxious moment eager to keep on going.
