Between Shanghai and Miami From Jan 11th through 14th, 2007This year, Miami Beachās iconic Art Deco Weekend along historic Ocean Drive goes global. To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Art Deco Weekend, its organizers, the Miami Design Preservation League, chose the theme East Meets West: Art Deco from Miami to Shanghai to showcase a set of events designed to build both cultural and business bonds. The comprehensive series of events includes a street fair, a parade, films, lectures, exhibits and an impressive delegation of architects, artists, and high-level government officials from Shanghai. The opening of the festival will take place at the Art Deco Welcome Center, which begins with a photography exhibit of Shanghaiās Art Deco Architecture produced by the Shanghai government. Highlights of the festival include the screenings of films on the Art Deco in Shanghai at the Wolfsonian Museum and a visual arts exhibition by Chinese artist Lu Zhide at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden.
