Capture, Burn and Blow Up From Mar 10th through May 2nd, 2007The new exhibition on view at Artformz Alternative, features photography, photo-based work and video. In keeping with the mission of the Society of Photographic Educators that “seeks to promote a broader understanding of the medium in all its forms, and to foster the development of its practice, teaching, scholarship and criticism,…” some of the artists in this exhibit are teachers while others educate through the story implicit in their images. The group show entitled Capture, Burn and Blow Up presents the work of artists Priscilla Ferguson, Gerardo Marulanda, Rolando Dal Pezzo, Alette Simmons-Jimenez, Maria Caridad Perez, Vanessa Monokian, Lourdes Peñaranda, and Hugo Moro. Whether the artist first gazed through the lens to discover his inspiration, or, once inspired, the lens became the tool through which a concept was developed, the assembled collection presents a kaleidoscopic view of richly complex and varied work.
