From Mar 14th through Apr 4th, 2009. A three week exhibit from March 14th through April 4th, 2009 will showcase Ocean Waves Quilt Guild’s interests in quilts, quilt making, and associated fiber arts with the general public at the ArtSouth Cultural Arts Center located in Homestead.
The entire range of quilting arts covering traditional piecing, exciting fiber arts adaptations in wall hangings and wearable art will be on display along with demonstrations of creativity in color use and other aspects of quilting and quilt art. The public will vote for their favorites in the Viewers’ Choice awards in each of the four categories: Pieced, Appliqué, Art and Other Techniques, and Wearable Art.
The ArtSouth Cultural Arts Center provides Ocean Waves this opportunity to extend education in fiber arts through this exhibit where the public will be able to observe and participate in the quilt making process. Guild members will host the exhibit, work on quilts in a display room and answer questions on the standards for quality quilt making or the judging of a quilt. Volunteers will explain the various elements of the exhibit and assist ArtSouth visitors in learning sewing techniques at our community quilt sewing and tying table.
