April 28th through 30th, 2006 and May 5th through 7th, 2006Excello Dance, now in its third season, is inviting audiences to enjoy several evenings of performances at their new location: The Excello Dance Space. The blackbox space offers a fifty-seat alternative dance venue for up-close and personal audience viewing. Unlike most theatrical performing arts centers, this space lends to a comfortable environment where the audience can engage in the spirit of each performance. Raised seating, professional sound and lighting has enhanced this warehouse into a new venue for contemporary work. Artistic Director Karen Peterson states, “Excello Dance Space is significantly needed in the community. Dancers and choreographers have so few venues to perform, experiment, exchange ideas and connect with an audience. Dance will not develop in South Florida unless you have a place to explore, take risks and create in an affordable but well appointed setting.” The April performances will feature two new group integrated works by Ms. Peterson as well as a “mixed-ability” duet set on Revolutions, a company based in Tampa. To round out the program, Letty Bassart’s new solo for Ms. Peterson will explore rest, vulnerability and strength. Later in May, Excello Dance Series will present the Emerging Choreographers Showcase featuring Carly Dorman, Elana Lanczi, Rosie Herrera, Carlota Pradera, Robin Prichard, Robyn Luck and Letty Bassart.
