June 21st, 2006Completely different from a music festival, the Fête de la Musique is a free popular fête, open to any participant (amateur or professional musicians) who would like to perform in it. The festival seeks to popularise musical practice among all audiences, young and not so young, and from every social backgrounds. Fête de la Musique is a way to encourage major music institutions to perform outside their usual locations. The festival offers a great opportunity to promote the exchange between all kind of musicians and music lovers together with recognized artists and music organizations. The 2006 edition in Miami, FL will feature The Refugee All Stars of Sierra Leone, There will also be performances of Zenglen, a popular Haitian compas group, The Nag Champayons, an “afrodelic” world music band from Miami, and Fantomic, who is a Paris-Miami French Pop trio.
