A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum From Feb 8th through Feb 18th, 2007FIU Theatre is presenting the play A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart. The show will be directed by Phillip M. Church and will take place on the University Park Campus of FIU in the Wertheim Performing Arts Center Mainstage Theatre. A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum was first produced on Broadway by the legendary Hal Prince and directed by the equally legendary George Abbott. It was an instant success and has become a favorite of regional theatres across America and around the world. Based on the farces of the ancient Roman playwright Plautus, it tells the bawdy story of a slave named Pseudolus and his attempts to win his freedom by helping his young master woo the girl next door.
