From June 21st through July 1st, 2006The 28th annual Florida Dance Festival is a critically acclaimed ten-day celebration of dance with nearly a dozen public performances and events, and an intense series of master classes and workshops in ballet, modern dance, jazz, tap, African dance, hip hop, improvisation, composition, Pilates© and more. Classes and workshops are held at New World School of the Arts in downtown Miami; performances are held at both New World School of the Arts and the Colony Theatre in Miami Beach. The Florida Dance Festival was created to celebrate Florida’s artistically and culturally diverse dance artists, and to present the work of national and international dance artists and companies to Florida audiences. The Festival is produced by Florida Dance Association, a nonprofit service organization and dance presenter providing leadership, information and services to dance artists, organizations and audiences throughout Florida since 1972. Some of this year’s highlights will be Nugent + Matteson Dance from New York and Susana Yamauchi from Brazil. CandoCo from London, UK, a contemporary dance troupe of artists with and without disabilities. There will also be a selection of dancers from Florida’s independent dance artists, small dance companies and school-based performing groups. For more information, please call: 305 674 6575
