Foryoucansee Theater presents The Toners Live

New Theatre. From Jun 26th through 28th, 2009.

Foryoucansee Theater present The Toners Live! A series of three episodic staged comedies based on the preposterous adventures of two Miami “Reggaetoners”. Born and raised somewhere west of the Palmetto, Tito and Che-Frio are The Toners, an unknown Reggaeton band trying to become superstars.

But the gods have other plans for these young men. Facing nuclear meltdown, time travel, sleazy music execs, light-saber battles with Hugo Chavez, a Cuban Robo-Obama, and a 200-foot tall Shaquille O’Neal, The Toners may have a better shot at saving the world than actually getting a record deal.

Toners in Time. The first installment of this satirical trilogy, The Toners travels all the way back to the year 2002, and change the course of Reggaeton history. The event is not a party, a play, or a concert – it is a mutant, hybrid remix of all of these things, explicitly targeted at Miamians ages 16 to 40 years old.

Foryoucansee Theater is a non-for-profit, entertainment and production company dedicated to producing Miami-oriented theatre for the 13 to 40 year old, young Miami audience. Foryoucansee was founded by Alex Fumero, Lucas Leyva, and Marco Ramirez – three young theatre artists who left Miami to study their crafts, and returned with a passion for creating native work. Ramirez is a Juilliard-trained playwright who recently received his second production at The Humana Festival of New American Plays. Leyva is the founder and director of the Borscht Film Festival in Miami, run in collaboration with the Miami World Cinema Center. Fumero appeared in the revival of the Cuban American classic “El Super”, and is currently a series regular on Telemundo’s Más Sabe El Diablo, the first novela shot in HD.

Performances will take place at the New Theatre in Coral Gables on Friday and Saturday June 26th and 27th at 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday, June 28th at 7:00 p.m.
