Season Finale Concert From May 18th through May 20th, 2007The Season Finale Concert for Freddick Bratcher and Company is already here and the troupe will celebrate it with three performances at the Colony Theater on May 18th and 19th at 8:00 p.m. and May 20th at 3:00 p.m. Long acknowledged as South Florida’s premier contemporary dance company their line up of dance works includes an appealing mix of modern and jazz dance styles, complimented by a diverse mix of music. The 2007 Season Finale Concert will feature a world premiere by Bratcher titled “Dialogues” with the premiere of original music by Sean Dibble and Ulysses Perez. “Dialogues” uses the Chinese characters for alone, together, and love as the basis for the various types of conversations people have. With dancers using the linear patterns of the Chinese characters along the floor, the conversations in “Dialogues” rather than spoken are revealed through movement. The performances will also include the powerful and thought provoking “White Lennon” set to the music of John Lennon during the height of the new age therapy. Offering a series of mature dances that probe into the human psyche, the Lennon work explores the inner searching individuals may encounter – sometimes painful, sometimes joyous, and sometimes indifference. A play on the words white linen, “White Lennon” suggests the purification found at the end of this journey. “Jasmin” will compliment the evening with its sexy, smooth jazz movements. Originally choreographed in 1979, “Jasmin” has been described by the Miami Herald as a work that “combines Bratcher’s sensitivity to jazz music with a witty command of the modern/jazz vocabulary.”
