From Jul 10th through
Behind the all-American interjection “Boy, Oh Boy!” there are many implications. Generally it is used as an expression of shock, surprise, pleasure or excitement. The Oxford English Dictionary first lists it in 1917 as a derivation of “Boy!” or “Oh, boy.” A more recent though not quite similar variant being “Man, oh Man!”
Within these expressions and their definitions are the seeds and parameters of this summer group show at the Fredric Snitzer Gallery in Miami. The exhibition explores a macho/male positioning as seen through a broad spectrum of perspective that ranges from macho man, swagger, gay man, woman, to childhood and boy/girl relationships. Participating in the exhibition will be artists that are not necessarily known for exploring the thematic framework of the show. They are Endre Aalrust, Zack Balber, Hernan Bas, Timothy Buwalda, Alex Flemming, Francie Bishop Good, Christian Holstad, Natalya Laskis, Jonathan Meese, Sabelo Mlangeni, Rashaad Newsome, Paul P, Michael Vasquez, Bert Rodriguez, Christian Schoeller, Dash Snow, Diego Singh, James Everett Stanley and Alex Sweet.
