From Jul 13th through Jul 16th, 2006The IFÉ-ILÉ Afro-Cuban Dance Festival, formerly called Baila USA, features a series of dance and music workshops taught by both local and international master artists, bilingual discussions and dialogues on Cuban arts and culture, dance parties and a dance gala performance featuring workshop participants and teachers. The theme of the 2006 festival is Son. Son is a sensual style of dance that originated in Cuba during the 1920s. This year’s festival will also include optional cultural heritage tours of Miami’s Calle Ocho, Coconut Grove and South Beach neighborhoods. During the festival, audiences will have the opportunity to listen to talented Afro-Cuban musicians perform in clubs and jazz cafes and visit the many art galleries and botanicas.
