Miami Beach Cinematheque August 15th, 2007Dream Supreme is a 2007 film directed by Jane Carroll featuring Leo Casino, Jasmine Akash, Dr. Ali Tyson Cool, Maria Sanchez, Dorothy Sims, Marge Whitman, South Beach drag legends Adora, Taffy Lynn, and Marvella. Dream Supreme is a musical fantasy about the chance affair between two of America’s most loved icons, Marilyn Monroe and jazz legend John Coltrane. Jasmine and Leo perform some of the most popular songs recorded by Marilyn and Coltrane. The entire film (which originated as a stage play and is now under the direction of the great Jane Caroll) takes place in the bedroom of John Coltrane. It is love at first sight, and a roller coaster of emotions follow throughout as Marilyn is entranced by Coltrane’s seductive charms. The film is a “blast from the South Beach past”, shot in 1996 with several local celebrities, so don’t miss this opportunity to see this “lost treasure from the archives” A Live concert will follow the screening with the fabulous duo of Leo Casino and Maryel Epps and other musical guests.
