Presented by the Heineken TransAtlantic Festival March 1st, 2007The fifth annual Heineken TransAtlantic Festival launches with an open air concert featuring Jorge Drexler at the North Beach Bandshell in Miami Beach. Jorge Drexler is the Uruguayan singer and composer who is best known for his Academy Award-winning song “Al Otro Lado del Rio” from The Motorcycle Diaries. Jorge Drexler has become an international favorite for the poetry of his lyrics, and his unique style of fusing organic and traditional Latin American folkloric rhythms with the most modern electronic samplers and jazz harmonies. After giving up a career as a doctor to follow his musical dreams, he quickly gained high acclaim for his work.
