From Jun 16th through Sep 17th, 2006For this exhibition, MAM turns its largest exhibition space over to its rapidly growing permanent collection. The exhibition presents a number of important large-scale works that have not been seen in several years as well as new acquisitions recently added to the museum’s collection. Big Juicy Paintings is curated by Peter Boswell. Among the new acquisitions are Fernando Botero’s Still Life, Fabian Marcaccio’s From Raging Aggression to Decoration, Sarah Morris’ Cinerama (Los Angeles) and groups of works by Joseph Cornell and Purvis Young that have been kindly donated to the collection. Other works in the exhibition are When Alone Again III, a large-scale wall painting by Arturo Herrera, and several other works lended to MAM by local private collections. Featured also as part of Big Juicy Paintings are works by Cecily Brown, Maria Fernanda Cardoso, Edouard Duval-Carrié, Lynn Golub Gelfman, Morris Louis, Odili Donald Odita, Enrique MartÃnez Celaya, Gavin Perry, Gerhard Richter, Sean Scully and Frank Stella.
