The Miami Dade College Wolfson Opera Ensemble is putting on a lovely production of Guys and Dolls, a musical plot based on “The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown”.

Directed by the Director of Vocal Studies, Amy Ibberson, with musical direction by Dr. Alan Ngim, and choreography by Lee Pugh, this show will feature the students of the Miami Dade College Wolfson Opera Ensemble.

Guys and Dolls is a hit musical production with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Sweling and Abe Burrows. The musical is based on “The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown”, set in the 1950’s on Broadway Street in New York City. In a city full of sinners, such as gamblers, alcoholics, and materialistic-driven lifestyles, Broadway Street is on track of becoming one of the most sinful cities yet. Sergeant Sarah Brown’s intentions of converting Broadway’s sinners into missionaries is just one of the biggest gambles she has yet to face.

The Guys and Dolls plot themes include the underlying theme of the roles of men and women in the 1950’s, as well as their romantic relationships and struggles. In such roaring times, one must determine which lifestyle one should practice, in order of achieving and gaining true happiness with love and laughter.
