Puccini for Beginners February 13th, 2007The Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival presents it monthly screening featuring the film Puccini for Beginners at the Colony Theatre on Lincoln Road. Seven years in the making, and from the director of The Incredibly True Adventures of Two Girls in Love (1995), Maria Maggenti’s screwball comedy Puccini for Beginners utilizes gender identity and sexual politics as the bedrock of its storytelling. Split into three acts, like the operas our central character Allegra loves, Maggenti weaves a delightful love story about the search for love and its complications.
