Dec 1st, 2006 through Jan 27th, 2007miArte Galley in Coral Gables opens its newest exhibition 85@85, an open-theme square-foot exhibit showcasing eighty-five artists from around the world. Artists were invited to create unique works of art that were inspired by existing boundaries. Each artists focused and directed their boundless energy and creativity to that of a square-foot canvas. The exhibit is presented as a colorful wall mosaic consisting of two hundred and fifty five separate canvases – all the same size and shape but created in very different styles, with varying subjects and mediums. The smaller format was ideal to showcase a wide variety of work that could create the sensation of unity even when each piece functioned separately. Gallery owners, Cuqui Beguiristain and Manny Sanchez designed the exhibit to appeal to both the savvy, more experienced collector as well as for first timers. Exhibiting artists include Ulises Gonzalez from Mexico, Elena Lasala from Argentina, Adrian Morales Rodriguez from Spain and Dopico-Lerner, Denice Lewis, Mano, Dionisio Perkins and George Rodez from the U.S., among many others. 85@85 will be on view until January 27th, 2007 and miArte Gallery will be hosting a series of talks by the participating artist throughout the month.
