April 5th through 8th, 2006The 2006 New Music Miami ISCM Festival will include some 30 renowned composers and performers participating in the 4 day event being held at the Wertheim Performing Arts of Florida International University (FIU), the Steinway Piano Gallery in Coral Gables, and The Wolfsonian Museum. Presented by the FIU School of Music, the theme of this year’s festival is new music for orchestra, chamber ensembles, and soloists. The ISCM designation in the festival title indicates FIU’s association with the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM); an organization dedicated to the dissemination of contemporary music throughout the world. Five concerts are being presented over the 4 days as well as pre-concert, Meet the Composers panel sessions before each of the concerts, in which the composers whose works are being performed will discuss issues of relevance to their music.
