New Theatre ignites the mainstage with the sizzling award winning comedy, Educating Rita by Willy Russell. A brash and free spirited hairdresser Rita enrolls at the local university and turns her boozy and burnt-out professor’s life upside down. Educating Rita originally premiered in London in 1980 and this updated version of the play is currently enjoying a successful British revival tour.
Under the direction of Literary Manager Steven A. Chambers, the cast consists of the powerhouse duo of New Theatre veterans Dawn A. A. Plummer and Peter Haig, who returns to the New Theatre stage after a 15-year absence. The team includes Production Stage Manager Jerry Jensen with Scenic Designer Ricky J. Martinez, Sound Designer R. Kent Wilson, Lighting Designer Eric J. Cantrell and Set Construction Trintec Construction, Inc.
Performance times are Thursday through Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday at 1:00 p.m. with two performances on Sunday, October 21 and 28 at 5:30 p.m. Ticket are $35 for Thursdays and Sunday evenings and $40 for all other performances.
