The Genius of Domenico Scarlatti From Nov 10th through Nov 12th, 2006Seraphic Fire, Miami’s professional chamber choir, will present Stars: The Genius of Domenico Scarlatti. This concert will be devoted to the glorious music of Baroque master Domenico Scarlatti. Although best known for his sonatas for the keyboard, Scarlatti wrote many choral works while in the employ of his royal patrons. Works to be featured on this program include his Te Deum, Missa, La Stella, and Stabat Mater. Founded in 2002 by Artistic Director Patrick Dupré Quigley, Seraphic Fire is named for the angels that surround Yahweh’s throne in a double choir and whose volume is such that it shakes the foundation of the palace. Their name is derived from the Hebrew word seraph which means to consume with fire. Seraphic Fire is the Ensemble in Residence at First United Methodist Church in Coral Gables. Concerts will take place at three different locations including the First United Methodist Church in Coral Gables, All Saints Episcopal Church in Ft. Lauderdale and the Miami Beach Community Church.
