From July 27th through August 4th, 2006The Miami International Film Festival (MIFF), presented by Miami Dade College (MDC), announces the first annual Summer Fun Film Series. The featured film are Wizard of Oz and Winged Migration with screenings on July 27th and 28th as well as Barnyard, Clambake and Grease later on August 3rd and 4th, 2006. Summer Fun series start with the Wizard of Oz and for the ones dressed up as their favorite characters there will be the chance to win prizes. The next movie to be presented will be Winged Migration, a classic family film where birds rule the skies, seas and earth for eighty million years. Each spring, they fly vast distances. Each fall, they fly the same route back. This film is the result of four years following their amazing odysseys, in the northern hemisphere and then the south, species by species, flying over seas and continents. Later in August, the series continues with the screening of Barnyard, a lighthearted tale centering on Otis, a carefree party cow, who enjoys singing, dancing and playing tricks on humans. The series continues with Clambake, a celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Elvis Presley’s historic appearance at the Gusman Center. Elvis sizzles as a lovelorn million-heir in this romantic rock ‘n’ roll romp set in Miami. Dress-up as Elvis or wear your clam diggers and “do the clambake.” The last screening will be Grease, the movie where John Travolta solidified his position as the most versatile and magnetic screen presence of the decade and Olivia Newton-John made her film debut. This was undoubtedly one of the most successful motion pictures of all time. All screenings will take place at the Gusman Center located at 174 E. Flagler St, Miami, FL.
