September 30th, 2006FIU School of Music presents The Pan-American Jazz Project featuring a concert and master class at the Wertheim Performing Arts Center in Miami. The Pan American Jazz Project is under the direction of Cuban saxophonist Carlos Averhoff and Peruvian guitarist and arranger Richie Zellon both of whom are members of Miami’s FIU Music Faculty and posses a lifetime of experience in the Latin jazz field. Averhoff is one of the founders of the Grammy award winning group, Irakere and widely in demand as an educator. Zellon in addition to having produced over a dozen internationally acclaimed Latin jazz recordings has been writing on the subject for Jazz Improv magazine since the late nineties. The Pan-American Jazz Project also features Ramses Colon on acoustic bass, Hector Neciosup on drums and Joel Del Sol and Johnny Mora on percussion. For more information, please call: 305.348.1998
