Through Mar 19th, 2010.
This Broadway smash-hit musical is directed by artistic director Danny Weathers, with musical direction by Michael Fauss, choreography by Penny Leto and features a cast of twenty and a four-piece band.
“Monty” is a feel-good musical with a delightfully wicked sensibility and a message that resonates with these difficult economic times. The production is sponsored by “Conch Color” with the 70th season sponsors being Comcast, Digital Island Media and El Meson de Pepe.
“The Full Monty” sizzles with heart and humor as six unemployed ‘regular’ guys decide to do a one-night performance of a Chippendale-type show to make some quick money to keep their families together. They name their troupe “Hot Metal,” but the initial rehearsals are anything but hot. And who wants to see a bunch of regular guys strip anyway? To boost ticket sales, Jerry announces they will outdo the Chippendale’s and go “the full monty.” But will they have the nerve?
As the guys work through their fears and self-consciousness, they discover renewed self-esteem, the importance of friendship and the ability to have fun. Their journey is hilarious, heart-warming and ultimately triumphant as they face that ultimate moment of revelation.
“The Full Monty” took Broadway by storm, running for over 800 performances and was nominated for 10 Tony Awards. The hilarious and touching book is by Terrence McNally (a part-time resident of Key West) and features a toe-tapping score with witty lyrics by David Yazbek.
The Full Monty features an impressive cast of Key West favorites and new faces. Playing the six “Monty” men are Michael McCabe, David Black, Joe McMurray, Eric Cole, Kennedy Pugh and Marc Crow. Other members of the cast are: Robin Deck, Laurie Breakwell, Traci Reynolds, Mary Falconer, Nulita Loder, Amy Pesola, Johanna Hardardottir, Cannon Starnes, Harley Douvier, Brock Guzman, Justin Ahearn, Marshall Cochrane, Victor Lopez and Bill Rivera.
