Presenting Astrid Hadad’s Lúdica Mujer Impúdica From Oct 20th through Oct 21st, 2006Mexico City’s irrepressible actress, singer and performance artist Astrid Hadad opens Tigertail Production’s 2006-2007 season with her show Lúdica Mujer Impúdica this October at the Colony Theatre in Miami Beach. Costumed in her signature wearable art and accompanied by her four-piece band, show-woman diva Hadad blends popular songs and ranchera, bolero, rumba, rock and jazz music with highly theatrical precision to create a genre of music she calls “Heavy Nopal.” The proprietary genre takes on the stereotypes of Mexican culture and reframes them to comment on the social and political realities of today’s world. Hadad sings in Spanish, but the rest of her flamboyant cabaret act is perfectly geared to Miami ‘s multicultural audience, liberally mixing English and Spanish in a totally accessible way.
