Community Cabaret. Sept 9th and Nov 18th, 2009.
Sugar Sand Park’s Willow Theatre is reaching out to talented members of our community with a new showcase opportunity for entertainers – singers, storytellers, musicians, and dancers – to perform in the new Community Cabaret.
Community Cabaret is a hybrid of Teen Cabaret and Open Mic Night, two programs sponsored by the City of Boca Raton and Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District. Lisa Mansell, former Teen Cabaret director, encourages performers to take advantage of this opportunity, stating, “Our town has so many people who love to perform, but can’t commit to the rehearsal schedule of community theatre or musical productions. It’s a lot of fun to get up on a beautiful stage and have the chance to “be the star” and entertain your own family and friends.” The Willow Theatre provides the perfect setting for even the most timid performers with its professional stage, lighting and sound equipment.
The deadline is one week prior to the performance date. Performers who reside within the City of Boca Raton or the Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District may pre-register up to one month prior to the registration deadline; non-residents may register up to two weeks prior to the registration deadline. You may register at the Sugar Sand Park Community Center, and if the performer is under 18, a parent or legal guardian must complete the registration form. Performances are limited to 20 per show, ages 12 and up, with up to five minutes per act.
Upcoming dates for the 2009 season are Wednesdays, September 9th and November 18th at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will go on sale one week prior to each performance.
