From Aug 29th through Sep 13th, 2008.The XIII International Ballet Festival of Miami, presented by Miami Hispanic Ballet, American Airlines and Miami-Dade College, will take place August 29th through September 13th, 2008 in South Florida. The 2008 Festival will launch with the unveiling of the official poster and a dance-inspired art exhibit at a cocktail reception on Friday, August 29th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Tower Theater located at 1508 SW 8th Street in Miami.
The International Ballet Festival of Miami, founded and directed by Pedro Pablo Peña, is one of the most acclaimed ballet festivals in the United States and presents the opportunity for audiences to see some of the world’s leading companies represented by their stars. This year’s participating ballet companies are from the United States, Canada, England, Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Hungary, Argentina, Mexico and Brazil.
The program of the festival will include: International Young Ballet Medal Winners at the Manuel Artime Theater; Miami Modern and Contemporary Ballets at the Colony Theater, Miami Beach; Classical and Neoclassical Gala at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, West Palm Beach; Grand Gala of the Stars “A Life For Dance” Lifetime Achievement Award at the Arsht Center for the Performing Arts's Ziff Ballet Opera House and the Festival Closing Gala “Criticism and Culture of Ballet Award” at Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater
