Candida Rodriguez. From Apr 11th through May 5th, 2009. Candida Rodriguez is a graduate of both Escuela de Bellas Artes in Matanzas and Escuela Nacional de Arte Cubanacan in Cuba. Her work has been exhibited in Cuba, Mexico and various venues in the USA.
This exhibit, which the artist has been working on for a few years is a mixture of art and poetry; to be more exact Candida's own poetry. In her world, fairies come to her rescue when at the edge of an abyss, or simply guide her through a lighted path into the unknown.
Manny Lopez, director and owner of Zu Galeria comments, "When I met her about two years ago, and I saw what beautiful soul she possessed, and how all those emotions came alive in her canvases; I was hooked. I have been promoting her work ever since, and prompting her to have this exhibit, which according to her will be the closing chapter on her liaison with her magical fairies. In these times of change, I urge you to come and experience the world of Candida's magical characters, and be transported to a land of poetry where you can briefly forget all your woes."
